To demonstrate standing waves in a closed pipe using fine particles (cork dust) to display the characteristic modes.

Kundt's Tube
Description
This apparatus demonstrates standing waves in a horizontal glass tube. The interior is sprinkled with fine dry cork dust. The frequency is adjusted and the dust is thrown into a recurring pattern when the signal excites the column of air at one of the standing wave frequencies. Kundt's tube may either be placed on the overhead projector or viewed via the T.V. camera and monitor.
