Na-12 Black Body Hole
Aim
To simulate a blackbody emitter and demonstrate that a blackbody is a perfect emitter.

- Digital video camera with IR (night vision) mode.

Description
The blackbody emitter consists of a carbon rod with a small 1mm blind hole in the centre. The apparatus is connected to the Lecture theatre low voltage power supply and the variac slowly increased till a current of approximately 30 Amps is produced. The video camera is focused on the centre plugged hole and the image compared in IR night vision mode and normal mode.
