Mh-1 Friction
Aim
To demonstrate some of the basic properties of friction.
Apparatus
- Inclined plane
- Wooden Blocks with (Fine, Medium, Rough grades of Sandpaper)
- Set of weights
- Pulley
Inclined Plane Friction.
Description
ANGLE OF REPOSE
A block of wood is placed on the inclined plane and the angle of repose adjusted until the block slides with uniform velocity. The tangent of the angle then gives the coefficient of friction between these surfaces. Using the different grades of sandpaper will alter the angle of repose. The finer the grade of sandpaper the greater the angle of repose.
