Chimney Effect Apparatus and Diagram.
Description
A perspex tube (the chimney) is positioned above a beaker of rice bubbles or other appropriate light particles. The blower is aimed to provide a jet of air passing just above the chimney and at a slight angle to the horizontal. With a bit of practice the particles can be lifted completely up the tube and sprayed across the students. For best results the tube should be positioned about 1 mm above the level of the Rice bubbles. A spectacular demonstration.
