Eb-6 Induction Furnace
Aim
To demonstrate an application of eddy currents (the induction furnace).
Apparatus
- Cenco electromagnet
- Variac
- Boiler attachment

Induction Furnace
Description
A small amount of water (5ml) is poured into the copper boiler which is clamped over the core of the Cenco electromagnet. The variac is adjusted to supply 115 Volts. Within a couple of minutes the induced eddy currents provide sufficient heat to boil the water.
