Aim
To demonstrate the magnetic field due to a solenoid.

- 10 Amp Power Supply
- Iron Filings

Solenoid Circuit and Magnetic Field
Description
The apparatus consists of a solenoid passing through a sheet of perspex. As the power supply voltage is increased to supply a current of 10 amps, iron filings are sprinkled over and around the solenoid. The magnetic field pattern is clearly displayed with the aid of the overhead projector.
