To demonstrate Hertz's apparatus (a full scale model of the original device used for the production and transmission of electromagnetic waves).

Hertz Apparatus Setup.
Description
The induction coil is connected to Hertz's apparatus which consists of a pair of large square plates separated by a spark gap. The approximate values for L and C in this arrangement yields a resonant frequency of ~ 55MHz λ=5.4 metres.
The production of electromagnetic waves is demonstrated by the lighting of a fluorescent tube.
