Faculty of Science School of Physics

Environmental Health & Safety

Environmental Health & Safety is a very important issue at the School of Physics. All staff and students, from the first day of arrival, will be exposed to both obvious and hidden risks. Everyone must take responsibility for minimising those risks, to themselves and to others. We must all learn the appropriate safety protocols and procedures when working with scientific equipment and hazardous materials.

These web pages provide information on School EH&S policies and procedures, including templates to assist you with implementing required procedures, for documenting hazards and risks, for assigning authority to others, and most importantly, where to seek further assistance.

We hope that our Safety website has all the relevant safety information you need to ensure a safe and productive working environment. However, if you feel that something is missing, please contact our Safety Officer so that we can continue to improve.

EHS Procedures

Through consideration of the risks and hazards within the School of Physics, we have defined appropriate procedures for critical operations.
