Undergraduates
The study of physics is usually taken as a major or field of study within the three-year Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree but may also be studied as a breadth subject.
The two relevant majors are Physics and Mathematical Physics.
Information sheets summarising key information such as entry requirements, career paths, sample course plans etc may be accessed on-line: Physics and Mathematical Physics.
Upon completion of the Bachelor of Science degree, further studies may be taken at postgraduate level in physics including the two-year Master of Science (MSc) degree followed by a three-year Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree. This is usually required if you are planning to work as a professional physicist or wish to pursue professional management careers.
Alternatively, after the completion of the Bachelor of Science degree, you may be eligible for graduate degrees outside of Science such as Law, Engineering and Medicine.
For more information on course structure, entry requirements, application process, majors, breadth subjects, related graduate courses etc, please refer to the Bachelor of Science website.
A description of first-year physics subjects can be accessed at FY subject Information page.
