Research

Independent and sustained research on a particular topic conducted under academic supervision. The research is expected to make a significant new contribution to the discipline. Students produce an 80,000-word thesis, which is externally examined.

Master of Philosophy (MPhil)

Research

As above but candidates should aim to write a thesis within the word limit (30,000-50,000).

Master of Science (MSc)

Research Training

2 years

Combination of coursework and research project required as a prelude to PhD after completion of undergraduate BSc degree. The degree will be offered in 2009, as an alternative program to Honours*.

* Please note, while Honours is still being offered in 2009 to 'Continuing Degree' BSc students, it is advised that prospective applicants first make an appointment with the MSc/Hons/Postgrad Dip Coordinator, Dr Nicole Bell, for further discussion on the range of research projects available. Entry into Honours is possible only after confirming research project and supervisor first. Forms and deadlines are outlined in the application process.
