MMI Technical Seminar Series: Moving on from traditional rotary pumps, cleaner processes require cleaner pump technologies

Tue 28 Feb 12 3:30pm - 4:30pm

Location: Geoff Opat Room Level 3, David Caro Building School of Physics

The Melbourne Materials Institute is pleased to invite you to:

A dryness you can appreciate, the second seminar in a new series of technical talks planned for this year.  The second in this series of Technical seminars  is being presented by James Carter of John Morris Scientific.

The purpose of this seminar series is to allow research and technical staff across the university to keep up with the latest developments in equipment technology.

Unlike talks pertaining to a particular discipline of work or a directed sales pitch, in this presentation, James will begin with a primer on vacuum pump technology. He then highlights the benefits of dry pumps over standard rotary vane pumps and its application across different research disciplines.  This presentation format will seek to elucidate students, researchers and technical staff alike together on a technology used in laboratories across the University.

Light refreshments will be served following the presentation's Q&A session.  Do try to stay behind and mingle.
